PROCESS CONTROL SYSTEM

The main task of a process control system is to control and monitor a process in order to maintain a certain target state (temperature, filling level, humidity etc.), and to trigger an alarm in case of large divergences, or to activate a security function.

The programming of the process control systems is done by using pre-fabricated software modules, which significantly reduce the number of errors and increase operational safety (configuring instead of programming). This is important because those systems sometimes also control and monitor processes with a certain risk potential. There are also pre-fabricated modules available for the graphic display (process visualisation) of internal processes (plant, machine) that can be displayed on a connected PC or directly on a monitor.
